Freemasonry Cares is a joint initiative of the central Masonic Charities (The Freemasons' Grand Charity, Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution and Masonic Samaritan Fund).  The service was launched in September 2009 to make it easier for Freemasons, their families and other dependants to access the range of charitable help, support and services available to them.

The central Masonic Charities are mainly funded by donations from Freemasons and their families.  Each Charity has an area of expertise and provides support for a specific range of needs. Together they offer cradle to grave support, worth millions of pounds every year, to thousands of people.

In addition to their assistance for the Masonic community, some of the Charities also support organisations and individuals from the wider community.

The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys helps children and young people to overcome the barriers of poverty and complete the education and training they need to achieve their full potential. It helps families when an event has happened to the parents such as death, disability or illness, relationship breakdown or unemployment, which has caused financial hardship. Grants can be provided to assist with everyday living costs and other expenses such as computer equipment, music or sports lessons and educational visits. Grants are also provided to support those in higher or further education and apprenticeships and to assist young people with disabilities.
